FALLE NIOKE, & SIR WAS WONAMA YO EMA

An exciting new collaboration between Guinea-born Falle Nioke and Swedish artist sir Was is on it's way. sir Was sheds light on their first meeting, "In October 2018 I was on a train from London to Margate to meet this singer called Falle Nioke. I didn’t know much about him except the 30 seconds of sound snippet I had heard from a cellphone speaker where he was singing on a track. Those 30 seconds caught me. I was in search of something new. Something else than myself and my wish came true". The second single from the project, 'Wonama yo ema', has  just landed. A flute-like sound opens the track, alongside woody percussive plucks from the Ngoni (african harp) and an organic pulse, lending a swaying rhythmic motion. Falle Nioke's vocals are as controlled and personal as ever, as he moves across gorgeous spine-tingling melodies. The flute-like sound is a constant point of return throughout the track, and as time goes on, the song progresses into a more sprightly, full sound.  As soon as it's over, you'll want to hear it all over again - Falle Nioke's 'Wonama yo ema' is a truly special song. -Ellie Rose-Davies
